New Science Block
New Build Princethorpe Development
Recently, planning approval has been granted for a new Science Block Facility at Princethorpe College, based in the heart of rural Warwickshire. This state-of-the-art facility follows a series of successful, collaborative, educational developments between Princethorpe College and AT Architects, which have been inspired by the need to facilitate developing teaching techniques, whilst integrating modern design. The college is a Grade II listed building and being a heritage asset, we were challenged to respect the traditional form of the site and meld it with contemporary architecture. Whilst the rear follows the traditional design of the adjacent buildings, the front endeavours to be cutting edge and of the 21st century, taking inspiration from the fundamental purpose of the building – to inspire and educate the minds of the future. The new Science Block will provide ten purpose built laboratories accompanied by two generously sized preparation rooms, a break-out dining area and various communal spaces, keeping the college at the forefront of educational facilities. Now with planning consent, we look forward to moving the project forward into the construction phase.
